Security training questions, answered clearly
These answers provide general guidance. Exact licence, qualification and assessment requirements can change, so our team will confirm the current requirements when you book.
Door Supervisor & general SIA training
An SIA licence is issued by the Security Industry Authority for certain regulated private-security activities. The licence type you need depends on the role you intend to perform.
For many front-line security roles, applicants must hold the relevant recognised licence-linked qualification before applying for an SIA licence.
SecurWise plans the Door Supervisor pathway as six days of security training plus one day of Emergency First Aid at Work, with typical classroom times of 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Key areas include working in private security, door supervisor duties, searching, licensing responsibilities, conflict management, physical intervention, emergency procedures and professional communication.
Learners must generally be at least 18 and able to meet the language, identification and any prerequisite requirements of the qualification. We confirm the exact document list before your course starts.
No assumption should be made that an SIA licence-linked qualification can be completed fully online. Mandatory classroom attendance, practical training and observed assessment can apply. SecurWise confirms the permitted delivery format for each course.
After certification, you can use the relevant qualification as part of your SIA licence application, subject to meeting all other SIA requirements.
CCTV training
SecurWise advertises the CCTV / Public Space Surveillance course as a three-day programme.
The course covers private-security principles, CCTV operation, surveillance practice, legal and privacy responsibilities, control-room procedures and evidential documentation.
Yes, practical CCTV operation and evidence-related tasks may form part of the qualification assessment alongside knowledge examinations.
